Reading! .. Do u like to read? I know the world has become digital (now more than ever) but have you missed the feel of books in your hands? When was the last time have you read anything?? (not talking about Instagram captions 😁😅) I’m talking about books or newspapers or magazines .. anything?! I LOVE LOVE Reading!! I can spend my whole day, whole night reading a book or even surfing around reading articles from all over the world (I like to keep myself updated 😄) .. may be thats why I feel passionate about reading .. my goal is to become a good Reading instructor. When you are a teacher & in a classroom specially with an early year group who don’t have any idea how to read & after some sessions when u hear them try to read some words .. that feeling is purely magical .. its out of the world experience ( getting emotional here 😅) Anyways our today’s topic for #teacherstuesday is “Building Reading Habits in Kids” .. Reading is the essential part of a child’s learning experience. Its the foundation if a child’s educational journey. The reading journey begins with the phonemic awareness, blending of the sounds to make a word, segmenting of words into individual sounds but we’ll not get into how to teach reading (feel free to DM if you seek any help for ur kids.) We are going to discuss how can we take our kids away from technology (for a while) & put books in their hands! .. we want go build the love of reading in them 💖 Firstly we have to realise that kids do what they see .. lead by example, create a reading habit in your homes .. start when they are young. Establish a regular reading routine, may be before going to bed or any time in a day. If they are young & still don’t know how to read, start with read alouds! Have some picture books for the kiddos & let them explore it, let them make stories of their own from those pictures! (You’ll get surprised what they might be thinking) Try to make the books easily accessible to your kids, lookout what kind of book interests your child & build your home library according to it. Have reading sessions as a family .. it’ll encourage the child to read as well. We can totally make reading fun by incorporating some fun & play activities to it or may be incorporate an art work along it ( according to your child’s intetests). As teachers we always want the parents to be involved in their child’s learning, get involved in their reading routines as well & where ever to find it hard or feel stuck .. discuss it with your child’s teachers. Remember that the parents along with the teachers makes an excellent team for the betterment of a child. We can only develop the reading habits of a child by supporting them with love & patience only. Expressing your frustration to a child who is already struggling, can often make them struggle more & in return they would start hating it which we definitely don’t want to do! We want to build a life long love of reading in our children ( & students), this is the ultimate goal! Remember everyone likes to read, may be they haven’t found the book which interests them yet! Let’s find the books which our kids love to read .. let’s build a reading community, let books be our window to the world & let them take us to places .. we’ve never been!! LET’S READ 😃📚
Who doesn’t like a little something sweet after food?? And Cherry on top, its Eid around the corner also & we know that no festivity is complete without a sweet dish. Since I’m Pakistan so I thought to bring full on desi sweet dish for the first ever recipe post on my blog & also it’s been a while since I posted anything here so why not restart this journey with sweets. So here’s the royal sweet dish recipe for you all. Seriously presenting you “Shahi Tukray” which in English literally means “Royal Pieces” .. let’s check out this royal recipe & feel a bit of royalty 😉!! Ingredients: 🍞 Bread slices – As required (remove corners & cut into triangles) Milk 🥛- 1 litre Milk Powder – 3tbsp Saffron strands – As required Condensed Milk – 1 can Yellow food colour – for colouring the milk Pistachio & Almond slices – for garnishing
Method: 🥢 cut corners of the bread slices & sliced them into triangles 🥢 Deep fry the bread slice 🥢 In a pan add milk, bring it to boil & add milk powder, saffron & Condensed milk to it 🥢 Cook for 5 to 10 mins & add few drops if yellow food colour to get ur desired colour 🥢 Put off the flame & now siak the fried bread slices into this mixture .. turn around & let it soak completely 🥢 Take out the slices & dish it out on your serving platters .. garnish with Pistachio & Almond slices 🥢 Serve chilled 👌

ADULTING CAN BE FUN
Let’s be adults! .. Act like a grown up! Or, you are not a child anymore! These are some lines either you have said to somebody or have heard from someone. When we were kids, we wanted to be grownups. In our young adult life everyone wanted us to be responsible, telling us to act our age as we were not kids anymore. Everyone wanted us to be adulting at the best!! But what actually adulting or being an adult means?? Why every kid wants to be an adult? May be being an adult fancies them. I remember when I was in my teen being an adult meant freedom for me, freedom to make your own choice & your own decisions but this all comes with great responsibilities which I hadn’t realized at that time. Now, when I am an adult (been an adult for a very long time now) sometimes I really want to hide somewhere & tell the world I AM DONE BEING AN ADULT!! But it shouldn’t be this way. Why have we made adulthood so complicated??? .. let’s dive into it & try to figure out some difficulties of adulthood & how can we ease this phase of our lives.
What does adulting actually means? Firstly it seems like it’s not a regular word in English language, (it’s a fairly new gerund that stems from the use of word “adult”). I dig it up on net & some of the few definitions I found were that “it’s the practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult”. In one other place it was described as “An informal term to describe behaviour that it seems as responsible & grown up. This behaviour often involves meeting the mundane demands of independent & professional living, such as paying bills & running errands.” We as a society has setup some strictly defined rules for being an adult. However it can be subject & may differ from person to person but loosely its mainly focus to achieve following goals in life like getting through school, having a professional degree, getting that dream job which pays you well, fall in love .. getting married, have kids & then what?! You focus all your young adult life & then adult life pursuing & chasing these set goals to become that perfect responsible adult that you forget to enjoy the process & by the end after achieving all those things, the fatigue of it all makes you tired as hell & then you don’t want to be an adult anymore, suddenly you want an out from all the responsibilities. This should not be the case.
We have to realise that being an adult is a part of growing up & u can’t simply avoid it but you can surely make it fun!! Adulthood means more than paying bills & cooking at home. It means to make decisions which are good for your wellbeing & not the ones which someone expect you to make, it means to accept all your flaws & accept that life is not always rose coloured. It can be tough & you will manage to deal with it .It specially does not mean that you give up all the things which u once loved doing & follow some routine which is making you stressed & bored. Being an adult should not be boring. Let’s change that narrative & be that responsible fun adult which everyone else looks up to & wanted to be like.
In a society that glorifies the carefree culture of youth, we often disregard the search of happiness in our adult life & immerse ourselves in portraying the role of a perfect adult. By doing so, you often forget to enjoy this phase of your life. You start spending your life rather than living it. There cannot be any definition of being a perfect adult & especially there’s a no “how to” guide for it. You can only be a responsible one if you start enjoying this phase of life. It’s not necessary to make drastic changes to your habits, routine or spending a lot of money to enjoy adulthood. Often, we already have everything to enjoy life. It’s just a matter of priorities. So my dear friends do make your job, responsibilities, & duties your priority but don’t forget to add an element of enjoyment to it otherwise you will be, at some time compelled to say “ADULTING SUCKS!!”
Hello again my dear readers.. I know, I know I’m being late again although I’ve told in my last post that I will be posting regularly here but as the saying goes better late than never 😉 so here I am! but on a serious note, I thought that I would have ample of time to write during my summer break (yes guys! I’m on a break.. Perks of working as a teacher) as I’m not travelling this summer but but life don’t follow any plans or should I say, I suck at planning. I would rather like to take one day at a time. It basically is what makes me Happy!! .. So, although I had planned to be consistent on this space but things happen & I got busy in other things which were exciting & brought me happiness. Yes!! I think you are going to read the word “Happiness” a lot of time during this blog post as I have decided to write about it today. Haan jii tou come tell me what gives you Happiness?? .. It’s such a vast topic but today we will talk about what is happiness? & how to enjoy the little things in your life which can give you true joy! (Ahh! choti choti khushiyan!)
Happiness is a word which seems short & sweet but it holds a lot of meaning in everybody’s life. Everybody wants to be happy. This is the one thing which everyone wants in abundance in their lives. But how can you measure happiness? Which things bring you happiness? & how can you boost your happiness?! Sadly, we spend a bigger chunk of our time thinking or I would rather say over thinking about happiness that we actually play part in decreasing our quality of happiness. Yes! dear readers we humans have made “being happy” difficult & laborious. I believe that happiness should be simple & easily achievable!! How can you really make it simpler & satisfying, let’s talk about it ..
We have always read that try finding joy in the simpler things, like blooming flowers, looking at clear skies, in rain, a peaceful evening, a good night sleep & the list can go on & on & on .. but here’s the moment of truth .. are we really doing it? Are we really enjoying these little things in our lives? We the people are always chasing some dreams in our life, every single time & in doing that we are neglecting the small moments which are truly pleasing to us! It’s ok to set up goals in fact you should always have a goal in life to chase but in doing so don’t forget to appreciate those little moments of your life which will be good memories for a life time! Now what actually is happiness?? You can google it if you want but I think that Happiness is a state of mind!! & it can be different for person to person. The things which brings joy to me, might not be important to you .. so my friends go out & try to find YOUR own happiness. Try to observe & look around things, events or people that bring you happiness. Build your own happy tribe!! If u can’t than you can always take help of our good old friend Mr.Google. There’s a whole list of things / activities online which are scientifically proven to bring happiness to you. But again being happy is no rocket science, try to find it in a simple cup of tea, a talk to your best friend, help out a colleague, go on that long overdue road trip you might be planning & postponing it for some odd reasons, see your family spend time with them, indulge in some social work or the easiest of them all, arrange that wardrobe of yours (the end result of it will surely bring you a lot of happiness 🙂 )
There are so many simpler things that can actually benefit us mentally & physically! So, girls & boys let’s uncomplicated our lives, let’s stop making “being happy” a difficult & complex procedure. Try to smile often, don’t stress on little things (stress is part of life, it’ll be there in some way or other .. let’s try to deal with it head on!), take pride in what you have & what you do. Most importantly try to bring happiness in others life, in return you WILL find your own happiness! Always remember YOU are in control of the choices you make in your life. Choose wisely!! There are many blogs & articles online .. go & read them all, take info from them as a guide to live a happier & more fulfilling life. I had read it somewhere that “Nobody has seen tomorrow, today is what we have .. let’s make our today happy. Let’s be happy NOW!!”

Hey!! .. hello everyone, It’s been a while that I’ve not used my blogging space at all. Despite wanting to write & having so many ideas to write about, I had not been able to even open my blog at all since my last post, which I agree is not good at all. What to say .. life has been a roller coaster these past few months with Ramadan & children’s final exams, Eid .. and the End of the year work (or maybe I was being Me .. that is lazy ! ) .. yeah I know the year is far from ending right now but being a teacher this time of the year we are busy with winding up our class rooms, all the paper work, packing and shifting of things from school to home. I tell you this feels like winding up your home. You know that feeling when you feel that you are packing away your memories in a box. All the hard work we’ve put up in setting a classroom & all the materials we’ve created for our learners. All those memories.. all the happy ones, which felt like your success & all those as well where you felt exhausted & can’t wait for the day to be over .. Those all memories making you sad & happy at the same time. Ahhh!!! People it’s the emotional time of the year where we let go of the kids with whom we had spent the whole year with .. or am I the only one to feel that way??!! .. as I am the emotional types!! .. argghh!! Too much emotions going on right now .. If any teachers reading this please tell me I’m not alone feeling this!!
Anyhoos!!! .. I’m back & I intend to be a regular here on this space (if I’m able to stop being lazy) .. Since the summer holidays have already started and parents are already getting anxious to prevent their children from boredom.. Yes, Already! .. But what actually this fancy word “BOREDOM” means? … Come let’s talk about boredom today in this blogpost. Boredom cannot effect children only but adults can also be get struck with it, quite frankly I’m a little scared also of sitting at home for two months & facing boredom but people at this time of the year I can say that, I AM READY TO BE BORED!!! .. This boredom can actually be good for our mental health .. How? .. Come let’s talk! .. In today’s busy world, this boredom is seen as a very bad thing, especially for children. We want our children to be occupied every time, which is actually not a bad thing to do but letting them being bored for some time or hours of the day can actually be beneficial for them. How? .. Hmmm … chalo thora google kertay hain (let’s do a little bit of google) .. Research has showed that being occupied every time does not allow enough “Child Led” play times for the kids. Now what is child led or child initiated play? It means that the children decides what to play, how to play & who to play with. This helps the child in their decision making skills & is very important for their mental and social development. Boredom can also give the children opportunities to think creatively & build their sense of discovery as well as imagination. It gives them the opportunity to think out of the box, to make new friends. They can not only figure out the plans to get rid of this boredom but are able to execute those plans as well. This can be of great for their decision making skills. So, let our children be bored for a change!!
All these benefits of boredom will be applicable only if we as adults directs our children towards good & better options. If we will leave them on their own, this boredom will definitely cause some negative impacts on their mental & emotional health .For example; children as well as we adults have this tendency of doing things which can be harmful for us, when we are bored such as too much exposure to screens (be it your mobile phones or kid’s gaming consoles) can cause many negative impacts on both children as well as adults. That is why it’s important to not let the span of boredom be long enough that kids indulge in negative things .. Balance is the key people, bring balance to our lives!!
SO, let’s make this boredom part of our developmental routine, let’s channel our thoughts and our free time into creating something good & meaningful. I had read somewhere on the net, that you get the best ideas when your mind is empty and resting!! .. Come On, let’s make that cup of tea (or coffee), play some music & think our boredom away!!!!
Balance in the matters of life & in world is the key to stability, or should I say balance the better; better the world! Every system works better as long as it maintains the state of equilibrium. In order to maintain & establish this equilibrium, the issues of the society must be resolved within the norms and accord levied. These social issues are the driving force which is responsible to shape up the socioeconomic situation of any country or a society. Women are the integral part of any society. We make up approximately 49% of the world population. Women should not be ignored or treated un equally, if we want to make an impact as a society. In many parts of the world, women still don’t have the equal rights or opportunities as of their male counterparts thus causing an unbalance or instability in the society. This gender discrimination or gender inequality has drastically augmented in the past, ultimately disturbing the social balance of our societies & ultimately of the world.
A lot of efforts has been put in to curb or minimize this worsening situation of gender discrimination / gender inequality but believe me, we still have a very long way to go!! The theme for “International Women’s Day” this year is “Balance For Better” which once again gives hope & inspiration to all the women across the globe. This hope binds us together to look up to some of the brilliant Women in the world who had excelled in their fields & are continuing to do so. These Women inspires us & gives us strength to go that extra mile & try hard to achieve our goals in getting the equal rights & creating the balance in the world for ourselves.
The prosperity of our society is directly related to the gender balanced world with equal number of opportunities offered to all genders. The negation or any sort of decrement in this can have profound impact on all of us. As this is the era of technology, we can utilize the technology such as social media for our benefits, by using it to generate awareness about the gender equality via blogging or by creating the platforms for women only where they feel secure & confident to share their fears, challenges or ideas among other women so that they can motivate each other in achieving their goals. Women must now need to build the balance in the society for themselves. Gender equality is not only beneficial for the women but it can cause a positive impact on our society which will only bring betterment to the world.
On the other hand Women who are given the opportunity, are making a great impact on the society. They are truly responsible & are capable of maintaining the balance in the society. They are maintaining this balance between their professional & private lives. Women when provided the chance, can blissfully pursue their careers along with taking care of their families giving them the quality time they deserve.
We as women are responsible for making this world a better place for our children so that they don’t have to strive to seek that balance which we are trying to create in this world today! On this International Women’s Day we must collectively portray the strong message of gender equality in economical, industrial, social & political sectors. We must try to get the equal opportunity to grow in all sectors & show cast our abilities in effective manner to prove that this balance is surely for better! .. So let’s all come together whether be a male or female & pledge on this International Women’s Day, that we all together will support gender equality & try to bring balance to the World.
One can only love somebody else wholeheartedly if he or she can Love themselves first! According to me this self love can really initiate SELFCARE.“Self care” is an innocent two syllable word but it can cause many to roll their eyes! Selfcare is a topic very close to my heart. Younger me would’nt give it much consideration but as one says Wisdom comes with age (its not necessary that I agree with the age part here 😉), with two kids & a full time job (believe me logon teaching is a full time job .. our minds just won’t stop!) I take this very very seriously. Firstly what exactly is “Selfcare” ? In my mind I have a very typical definition of it but to make things simpler & to actually make some sense, I took the help of good old GOOGLE to define selfcare. Yup! Our very own go to place if we are stuck somewhere .. According to Ms. Google (yes I would like to think of it as a woman because we like to think that we know it all! 😊 ) “ SELF CARE can be defined as any activity that we do deliberately to take care of our mental, emotional & physical health.”
Many people think of selfcare as a luxury but it really is a necessity in todays time. With kids, home & our job obligations we usually put ourselves at the back seat. We forget that if we will not take care of ourselves we can not do justice to our kids, homes & job chores. So, I would advice you to take a step back & reflect what can give you that boost to carry out all your responsibilities in the best possible way? It can be anything from reading a good book, talking to your long lost childhood friend, taking a walk on the beach or going on that long due holiday! .. anything that will give you joy & refresh you to take life heads on!! For me this boost can be provided by a simple phone call or meet up with some of my friends, having a cup of coffee by myself in a café or catching up with family back home. Simple things in life usually helps us go a long way!
Selfcare gives you the ability to pause your day to day routine .. to take a break from the worries of life, indulge in the things which you love or which refreshes your mind & your mood. After getting refreshed we can always go back to finish that pending assignment, giving it our 200% rather than 50%. Taking a break will improve the quality of your work, can put you in a good mood & is very important to build good relationship with your family & friends! .. Cut back the negativity from your life or at least try to do that, unfollow those trends or people in your life or on social media which gives you anxiety .. Follow people who brings a smile to your face 😊
SO people take that break which you really wanted to take for a long time now, make yourself the priority, love yourself first so you can give love to everyone else in your life, Call up a friend (a good friend is your biggest investment! .. do invest in it 😊 ) Go to the movies or simply have a cup of tea with your friend & chat your worries away or get a take away(for me good food is the key to my good mood). Take care of your selves, you have a long way to go .. Have a blessed & happy life!!
Yes! You’ve read it right! I would like to welcome myself to this blogging world. It’s been many years now that I was thinking of stepping in this world. I don’t know exactly what inspires me to write but I feel I’m more comfortable in writing down my thoughts rather speaking them out & lately my mind is a huge mess of thoughts. So yes!
